This destination was one of the most amazing and exhilarating of all my trips so far, to see the Northern Lights was one of my most desired experiences to do in my lifetime. It was all and more! We flew to Helsinki and had a few days to get over the jetlag wandering this thriving Scandinavian city and then to Tallinn in Estonia. We made our way to see Santa at the Arctic Circle.
What a treat seeing the jolly big man in the flesh, every child and adults dream. We even saw Rudolf the Reindeer!
From here we saw how the people of Lap Land live in the harshest of cold temperatures, visited a Reindeer Farm, take a snowmobile through ice forests and dog sled through an arctic wonderland. Once we reached the top of Finland at Kirkenes we boarded the Hurtigruten ship where we followed the Norwegian coastline along the Fjiords all the way down to Bergen. We saw the Northern Lights from the deck of the ship and stood for hours totally amazing. We saw many picturesque remote villages and ended with Norway in a Nutshell 2 Day from Bergen to Oslo, by Train, Ferry and Coach.
